A Nebraska Match Made inHeaven

Picture
I have never seen a better fit for an inductee to an existing Conference as Nebraska becomes an official member of the Big-Ten conference July 1st. I don't need to express my thoughts in this piece about the academic advantages; I would rather speak to the FOOTBALL connection. There are few programs richer in the College football tradition than, Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan and Nebraska. The style of football that Nebraska will meet up with in the Big-Ten will force them to show more consistent performance week to week than what was required of them with the Big-12.

The defense that Bo Pelini installed four years ago is what they run in the Big-Ten and will challenge the Pelini brothers in a way they have not been challenged week after week. Big, Strong, Physical, Intelligent defense will be a must. I am confident that Bo Pelini and staff are up to the standards as they step into the conference, they will step up in this area giving the Nebraska Fan nothing to be ashamed of.

The offense on the other hand, has been described as anemic at best for the past 6 years. They have been in a holding pattern that has failed to develop future players for this program. With a new offensive staff in place, this remains the biggest question for the upcoming season. Will they provide productivity enough to give the defense the rest they need to build their momentum throughout the course of the game? Will they show the Development in the roster that will grow the productivity enough to secure the historical continuity within the coaching staff at Nebraska? Will the new staff be able to spot and bring on campus the kind of athlete necessary to win another National title?

This is a sport that any and all questions will work them out eventually on the field. So we will see about these questions soon enough. However, the Big-Ten is better suited geographically, which will allow the Nebraska Fan’s travel to continue as they will show the host venue the impressive support given to the football program.

I am most excited about the prospects of meeting up with the class of the Big-Ten which is their fans. I would be greatly disappointed if we were the recipients of such low class fans as we have met in Colorado (now in the Pac-10), Kansas State and even Missouri. With fans having stuff thrown on them, tires punctured and even fans being assaulted by those of who associated themselves with the host team. We are not suggesting this behavior was the endorsed by the host teams, but at the same time there was no effort to suppress it, discourage it or even apologize for it. A game was once stopped at Colorado because the classless student body was throwing trash on the field. The university’s named, cannot support the claim they did not know this occurred which what they will tell you.

Now that Nebraska is a part of the Big-Ten, the play on and off the field is anticipated at a higher level of performance and more in tune with real sportsmanship. There is nothing more fun from the fan perspective than engaging on the home turf with an opposing fan that displays’ respect for your program and engages in friendly banter about the upcoming contest. Following the game, it would be nice to have that conversation with the fans as you leave the stadium or tailgate afterwards, something we are not used to having. Bring on the Big-Ten, we will be competitive, yet will develop the Fan Friendships we have missed out on from the Big-12 experience

The Casey Anthony Verdict Stuns All Those Seeking Closure

We are (most of us anyway) bound by the constitution and the laws built around this magnificent Document.  It was designed 235 years ago with its design is to provide an opportunity to judge and be judged by the commoner (a Jury of our peers), with intent of delivering justice as they see it. Some of us have firsthand knowledge of the legal system and how it is so easy to levy guilt by the simple assertion and a court filing. The system has been built by attorneys, for attorneys and has a myriad of loopholes, rules and “what if scenario’s” so they can engage in their “Legal Games” (as described by an attorney). The Constitution grants the accused the presumption of innocence until proven guilty, why has society lost this principal and knows guilt is a given?

The State of Florida made the choice to seek the death penalty; therefore this invoked a clause that stated guilt must be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. They got greedy, sloppy and attempted to leverage the media in this which convinced the entire US that Casey Anthony was guilty of murdering her 2 year old child. The State failed to connect the dots for the jury, therefore, by law the jury could not pass the verdict that all of us just knew was going to occur.

We are a nation of laws that are designed to deliver fair and equal justice. Sometimes it works so well we brag to the world how great our legal system is. Other times it seems to fail so badly we quietly pull our head back into our shell and hide in shame.

Our legal system is broken, it is far too easy for a hungry attorney to put his needs in front of the legal “code of ethics” (might I add, decency) and accept cases that have no business being in the system. There is no benchmark of proof that must be vetted prior to a lawsuit. The result is an overworked, plugged up system that is so turned inside out that it is ready for a complete overhaul. Meanwhile the “legal games” continue, the attorney’s make billions, and the desire to fix it has been lost to the politician speech material archive file.

Japan shows the strength in their culture

As a child, I left the Japanese nation with less than a favorable impression I saw the destruction of a family as we returned to American soil. I can vouch for the fact that time heals, 40 years later I have come to respect the Japanese Culture as I have come to realize that my child hood experience does not reflect the real Japanese people of today. http://bit.ly/f3qTkm

As we witness the video http://bit.ly/dUj87K that has been coming to use from all over the world, we see the all the best in this majestic and proud culture. This modern country remains calm, and resolute, yet they process this disaster as they have all the disasters this little county has dealt with several century's of experience. They are diligent in doing what they must to get this country back on its feet.

We see the struggle they have,  yet they don't surrender to the charity that is pouring into Japan to  assist them in this struggle. If you recall just a little more than a year ago when Haiti suffered a disaster too, they had the world include them to give the aid they desperately needed. The difference however, the people of Haiti turned to violence, as the thuggery of this country rose to the surface when they felt that they were owed the aid that was forthcoming from the world. Like a spoiled child they caved in, they demonstrated to the world why this country has spent hundreds of years in struggle, their culture does not have the resolve to muster the internal fortitude necessary for their own recovery.http://bit.ly/gFf2W4

Japan on the other hand, remains gracious as they accept the help from the world. They also remain committed to restoring this country and work to get their lives back to normal, proud and independent. You do not see them resulting to looting, violence and the hand-out attitude that we saw in Haiti. They are strong, and it is the culture that they draw the strength to face this disaster head on and united. They exemplify the very best in people, yes over time, I have come to admire and respect the Japanese culture. I do pray for their full recovery, they will rise from the rubble and will remain proud, yet humbled in who they are, simply put, they are Japan. As for Haiti, that's another story, not for this one.

Facebook Group Ranks Teens on Looks

"This is something that could get all over the world, and it's dangerous ... as of today he knows he's not allowed to do this anymore," she said.

The "You Pick" group has been taken down since NBC New York began looking into the story.
Many of the photos being judged were of teens in bikinis, deliberately trying to strike provocative poses.
While none of the photos appeared to display blatant nudity, they were highly sexualized. And they were photos that parents feared could end up in the hands of a college admissions office, a future employer or even a predatory adult.
A parent who asked to remain anonymous told us she was very upset to find her daughter's picture on the site.
Many of the kids voluntarily submitted their photos. Katrina Arce, 14, says she did not. She says she was forced into a "battle" without her permission.

"I was tagged in a photo one time," she said. "I didn't want to be tagged and people were commenting and saying mean stuff and I got offended and asked to be removed." Read On, Click here

Ron Paul For President?

Ron Paul holds great promise, questions is, will he be able to deliver greatly on his promise.
Time will only tell if his words are his promise.

He is not yet ready, so who will stand for us in 2012 with a plan? Unlike 1992, we lack a contract with America.  We lack the leadership that has delivered a resolution to the people they can point to, work for and to achieve as Americans for more than 200 years have always done. How else do we win back a Government from an entitlement expectant America to a liberated and free “can do” America for the people?  An America when there was real pride from patriotic Americans that would have never had their president apologizing to the world for simply being an American.

Our Government is at the brink, not the first time, but so far we have no one standing up and taking the bull by the horns determined to beat the odds and lead us back to the greatness we used to know.

A Prayer for Gabbie, a prayer for a Nation

On the eve of the President’s State of the Union, I know nothing of his message tonight; I only wish to deliver my thoughts of good will for the Tucson community, Mrs. Giffords Staff, and most certainly Gabrielle Giffords and her family.

My thoughts and prayers continue to go out to all of those so closely affected by a senseless shooting that has caused this country to take pause of it’s treatment of others. As my son deploys to Afghanistan I think of the time I visited him while he was stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, I was talking back to the television as Gabrielle Giffords was being interviewed. That and the local paper gave me some exposure to Mrs. Giffords.  I was an Angry Republican back then, but today I am searching for answers and find myself seeking a simpler, more restrained Government.

As a small business, I have been significantly and negatively affected by the current circumstances our country finds itself in. But this is not about me, I have come to realize my life has yet to be affected as dramatically, or significantly as the entire staff and Congress woman Giffords has been. My heart is lifted as I hear the news of her recovery. But the thing that is most endearing is the overwhelming communities out-reach and good will for the Congress-Woman.

Our American Democracy has no better representative than the organization she has assembled to serve her community. My heart and prayers continue to go out for her continued recovery. And for her staff, I pray for their continued strength to hold things together during what can only be a difficult and emotional recovery period.

May the Nation come to see from her example, in the name of service; a community is able to come together in difficult times. Yet share an exchange of opposing viewpoints and remain strong and unified.

The United States of America has had the bravest men and women stand up for her for more than 200 years as we exercise our right to disagree, but they have laid down their lives for our responsibility to remain United. From what I know of Gabrielle Giffords, She deserves only the best care so that she might someday stand in declaration of a United States the will remain the finest example of a Democratic  Republic worthy of those brave souls that continue to give their lives for this country. May God Bless Gabrielle and return her back to normal health so that she may return to the service of her constituents in Arizona.
